In more ways than one

You’ll be able to go the distance when you do what you love and make a career out of it. With ACCA, you’d be equipped with the needful to turn your passions into an extraordinary success. Have a look at these accountancy related roles, all yours for the choosing:

Fancy yourself a Sherlock of spreadsheet mysteries?

You may want to consider forensic accounting for a career; you’d basically be a crime scene investigator, but the clues you’re looking for aren’t gruesome murder weapons or gory blood stains. Instead, you’ll be scouring for dodgy characters messing up financial records and causing all sorts of havoc imbalances.
The usual suspects in this field of work include tax cheaters, embezzlers, inside traders and insurance fraudsters. You’d have to be brazen and steadfast in your findings - ready to do the needful at a moment’s notice. Don’t mistake a forensic accountant for an auditor (most do!). Want to work and play hard?

You may not get to bring home the trophies but you could be an essential part in creating a sport legacy. As a sports accountant, your role is to draw up budgets, set payroll, negotiate salaries and monitor franchise profitability.
You’d likely be called upon to offer advice about the financial impact of player salaries and trades, team promotional events and merchandising. Perks often include choice tickets to games, and a casual work environment (need we say more?).
Other than team franchises, sports apparel and media conglomerates also employ sports accountants. Scott Barwick FCCA, finance director of NFL International shared his strategies for success in this field: ‘Know your numbers and what the key drivers of those numbers are.’ Read More
Go-Green like Excel?
Mother Nature would appreciate having an environmental accountant by her side to battle against global warming, pollution and etc.

Your day-to-day focus would largely be calculating the environmental costs of business activity and recommending policies that would guide your organisation towards more sustainable practices. You are also best positioned to identify potential new sources of income for the business, such as the sale of waste.
Environmental accounting is important because investors today are looking out for companies that manage the impacts of their business on their surrounding environment (i.e. beyond financial P&L).  Read More [ACCA Malaysia]
